BIO

Dr. Reinhard G. Mueller is the executive director of the Hodges Foundation for Philosophical Orientation. He studied Philosophy, English, German, and History at the University of Greifswald (Germany), RWTH University Aachen (Germany), and the University of Alabama. In October 2019, he received his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Texas at Austin with a dissertation on “Nietzsche’s and Joyce’s Reorientations: Decadence, Textual Experiments, and Ethics.” He has published on Friedrich Nietzsche, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, and George Bernard Shaw and written essays on the HFPO website about the Coronavirus pandemic and “Decision-Making as an Orientation Skill.” In 2006, he first attended a lecture of Werner Stegmaier, was fascinated by his philosophy of orientation and subsequently became his student. Most of his work has been based on the philosophy of orientation. He is the translator of the primary book of the philosophy of orientation, Werner Stegmaier’s What is Orientation? A Philosophical Investigation, on which he offers a weekly virtual seminar that goes through the book chapter by chapter.
